Talk about your website on your website.
OpenParley lets you click any element of a live page and start a conversation right there. No screenshots with red arrows, no “which button do you mean?”.
How it works
Add one script tag
Works with any stack: static sites, server-rendered pages and single-page apps.
Click what you mean
Press Comment (or C), click an element and write. The parley is pinned to that element.
Share or sync
Copy a link that carries the conversation, or connect a team server so everyone sees every parley.
Try it here
Open the parrot in the bottom-right corner and press Comment, or just press C, then click anything below. Your parleys are kept in this browser. Use Copy link on a parley and open the link in another browser: the conversation travels inside it.
Field Notebook, dot grid
192 pages of 100 g/m² paper that takes fountain pen ink without bleeding. Lies flat when open.
Two ways to run it
Start with links. Add a server when your team wants one shared place for every parley.
| Links only | Team server | |
|---|---|---|
| Where parleys live | In your browser, and inside the links you share | On your own OpenParley server (one process, SQLite) |
| Who sees them | Whoever opens a link you sent | Everyone on your team who signs in |
| Accounts | None. You pick a display name. | Email and password, invite links, admin and member roles |
| Setup | One script tag | Run the server, create a project, paste its script tag |
| Good for | A quick bug report or a one-off review | Ongoing design QA and pre-launch reviews |
Get started
Build it, host the files from packages/overlay/dist, and add the loader to your pages. The loader is under 1 KB; it fetches the overlay (about 21 KB gzipped) only for people who need it.
<script src="/openparley.js" defer></script>
Running a team server? It serves the script for you, and its admin page gives you the exact tag. See the docs.
